Interested to know how this actually works. You say that it used to take time to register the command on the keyboard, so that's why it lagged, right? Or something to that effect? So how exactly are you fixing this? Just curious.
I tried to sign, but it wouldn't let me.

I developed my own version of dead reckoning.. and then after it was nearly finished found out I'm not the only one who's done it that way: http://www.gamedev.net/reference/articl ... le1370.asp (in these examples, think of the player as the bullet.)

basically, I am now calculating the average ping for each player. Using that time difference to predict where the player will be and trying to get them there. So far it works more often then it doesn't. I still need to improve the latency calculation, I've gotten it working fairly well in most cases, but I think a different processor might throw it off.

So If I just moved in random directions, that would throw it off?

Lol. I have a feeling I'll break it with my fighting style.

likely, however, this wont be to your advantage in a fight.. i'm working on other methods too, like scaling the hitbox in the direction of movement depending on the lag...

Lots of ideas, lots of tests... in the end, combat will be awesome.
